The Occupational Public Health and Oregon Fatality Assessment Control and Evaluation projects at OccHealthSci are proud to announce the launch of a new safety training for Oregon logging and forestry industry professionals: The Oregon yarding and loading safety training.

Job related deaths among logging, conservation and forest workers occurs with alarming frequency. Between 2018 and 2022, 249 workers in these industries lost their lives. The Oregon yarding and loading safety training was adapted from the Oregon OSHA yarding and loading handbook and is intended to supplement the essential training offered by employers.

The training is free to take and includes:

  • Common industry hazards

  • Jobs on a logging crew

  • Types of yarding systems

  • Recommendations for rigging the yarding lines

  • Types of elevated supports

  • Basic work procedures of the rigging crew

  • Available in English and Spanish
